Writing Reviews Is So Important

3 min read

Hey everyone, Good Day! and Happy Weekend. I wanted to talk a little bit more about writing reviews for the books you read. As writers, it is very nice to get some kind of feedback from our readers. And, as self-published writers, it is even more important because it is hard to know if we are reaching the right people with our musings. Generally, whatever company we choose to publish our stories through uses those reviews as a gauge as to whether or not to give us some free publicity on their site. Sales and reviews push your rankings up on their websites. It would be extremely cool to be rated #1 on any of the genre listings! There are inherent problems with this strategy. It is very difficult to get your friends and family to write reviews let alone strangers. But when a company disallows the reviews, for whatever reason, all your hard work goes up in smoke. Do not get me started on Amazon and the disappearing reviews people!

To combat some of those problems I suggest you join Goodreads (One of the largest book readers websites), Bookbub, or even Bookgorilla. Fill out your profile page, link up to your published books, add a link to your blog, and start reviewing the books you have been reading. Eventually, you will start getting more subscribers to your feed, especially, if you give honest, well thought out reviews. Start a conversation, comment, and ask questions on other reviews. If a review inspired you to check out that book and read it, give credit to the reviewer. This is all a karma kind of thing. You get as good as you give. Yes, it may seem like a time suck but what better way to spend your time than reading books you love and telling people about them.

I have set up the Kindle app on my phone and tablet and connected that to my Goodreads account. That way when I get to the last page of the book the Goodreads page pops-up and asked for a quick review. Done and Done. The best thing though, especially for us bloggers, is that we can go to our Goodreads profile page, find the reviews we have done and the website gives you the codes to add those reviews directly to your blog post! Just like the one at the bottom of this page.

My Review on Goodreads for latest Lacey Dancer’s Books
Truth Tells (Truth Series Book 2)Truth Tells by Lacey Dancer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Truth Tells is an excellent follow-up to the first book, Truth Kills.

If you haven’t read the first book I do suggest you read it before this one but it is not absolutely necessary. This story continues to focus on the main character, Felicity – her name right now – and Ace, her new and looks like permanent love interest as they rescue kidnapped families, find human traffickers and stop them in their tracks.

The B-roll of this story is the romance developing between Mia, still recovering from her injuries in the first book, and Cameron, Felicities second-in-command. Join in on the fun, adventure, and suspense in another thriller by the international author Lacey DancerLacey Dancer.
