Taylor Simpson

We have a brand new writer for you guys to try. No, he is not a North Florida Writer but he is related to one, me. Taylor Simpson is one of my cousins from Cummings, Georgia who has just self-published his very first novella on KDP Amazon. He has updated his Author Profile and we hope to see more books on his page very soon. Of course, his mother was and is very proud of him and posted the good news on her Facebook page. All of our family members are also really proud of him and have been buying his book. My eBook edition was a little rough and I have relayed my findings to Taylor to correct when he can. The story line itself is a pretty intense, thriller-mystery that tries to solve the murder of the main character’s first love with the help of his friends. There are twists and turns and the book does keep you guessing until almost the very end.

Who or What Got You Started in Writing?

I started writing in 2nd grade. It started as a school assignment, but then I realized how much I enjoyed it and I’ve been writing ever since.

What Do You Like Most About Writing?

I have to say that I love the creative freedom writing gives you. I love being able to create whatever I want, no matter how crazy or unrealistic it is. In writing, the sky is the limit and I love that.

What Inspires You to Write?

What inspires me to write are big authors and writers. Seeing how far they’ve gone and how great their work is encourages me to strive to be just as good and to keep writing.

What Do You Dislike Most About Writing?

What I dislike most about writing is having a great piece of a story but not having a use for it. Whether it’s a line or plot point or anything else, I dislike having such a good part of an idea, but not the rest of the idea that works with it.

Which Books Do You Read Most? (Top Five Authors and/or Series)

My 5 favorite authors are Orson Scott Card, Timothy Zahn, Tom Clancy, Claudia Gray, and J.K. Rowling.

What Do You Do to Relax? (hobbies, working out, spacing out, traveling, family)

To relax I like to read, write, and space out or think.

Do You Do A Lot of Research for Your Stories? And if so, what sources do you find the most valuable?

I tend to do a lot of research for my stories. Obviously, Google is my friend in this endeavor, but I prefer people with experience or knowledge on what I’m experiencing.

If published, what will your next project be about?

My next project will probably be about something during the Cold War, either the Cuban Missile Crisis or the Vela Incident.

What is the one piece of advice you would give to upcoming writers?

My advice to upcoming writers is don’t give up. Even if the first draft or fifth draft isn’t quite working out, keep trying and you’ll eventually figure it out and get it right.
