Book Review for Liz Adams Mystery Series

5 min read

Jolene’s Book Review for the Liz Adams Mystery Series. Today I am reviewing two books in the same series by author Stacy Wilder as part of the Silver Dagger Book Tour. This is my first experience as a blogger and participating in this kind of book tour. The company is extremely professional and has provided the books to read, graphics to include, and promotional information about the author. The bloggers can copy and paste, add little tidbits of their own (if they wish), and post on the assigned day. For book reviewers, we have to read the book (of course), write the review, and post it on Goodreads and/or Amazon as well as on our own social media pages.

Author Stacy Wilder

Stacy writes mysteries, children’s stories, short stories, and poetry. Her mission is to deliver a delightful story to readers of all ages while benefiting a larger community. She donates a portion of the proceeds from the sales of her books to causes that support wildlife conservation, and the homeless, both people and pets.

As well as writing, Stacy is passionate about her faith, family, Labradors, the causes that she supports, the beach, art, and reading books.

She and her husband live in Houston, Texas, with a totally spoiled Labrador retriever, Eve.

Liz Adams Mystery Series

Review for First Book

Charleston Conundrum (A Liz Adams Mystery #1)Charleston Conundrum by Stacy Wilder
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The first book in the Liz Adams Mystery series is called Charleston Conundrum. It is a little bit different than most of the cozy mysteries I have read in the past. But it is definitely a Christian Cozy Mystery set in the SOUTH (Bless Your Heart). I just love books about our southern states that do not have a lot of sugary-sweet southern talk. This story appealed to me because it is about a little bit older woman who after she finished off a nasty divorce in Atlanta, quit her corporate job, she decided to pursue her dream and become a ‘real’ private investigator, moved to Charleston, a really lovely historical place, and, educated herself in the position, interned with a prominent PI in the area and then opened her own firm.

There are hints in the first book that she solved murders before this story and got on the bad side of a burnt-out local police detective. She is flat-out broken-hearted when the next mystery she becomes involved in is when her best friend is murdered. The only person the local police are concentrating on is Liz herself!

It was a nice story, well-paced but a quick read. There is suspense, hi-jinks, and hints of romance brewing.

Review for Second Book

Carmel Conundrum (A Liz Adams Mystery #2)Carmel Conundrum by Stacy Wilder
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The second book in the Liz Adams mystery series picks up where the first one leaves off. Liz has inherited property from her deceased best friend Peg who vowed in a parting letter to become her Guardian Angel. Not only did she leave her a very nice property in California but the money to take care of it as well. The other part of the final communication with her friend asked Liz to keep in touch with her high-school buddy Brad who happens to be a CEO of a firm in California. The romance started in Charleston but now it moves on when she visits and becomes embroiled in an identity theft case at Brad’s company.

Liz wants to solve the identity theft for her new sweetie but the twisting trail leads to drugs, dog-napping, attempted murder, and a cult that wants Liz’s new property. With the help of her beau, the newly minted local sheriff – a woman named Sam, and her dog-pal Duke, can she solve the case, not get herself killed and be willing the give her heart to another man?

All-in-all it was not a bad read at all. The story is improving and the pace is fast-funny- and fun.
