Title: Once Upon a Billionaire Series: The Billionaire Fairy Tales Book 4 Author: MacKenzie Stowe Genre: Contemporary Billionaire Romance
The evening had certainly taken an unexpected and exciting turn. I’d thought I would spend the evening alone. I thought I would open a bottle of wine and go over some paperwork. I thought I would lose myself in contemplating my future until the wee hours of the morning.
I had not counted on finding not only a woman in my place, but an attractive woman that could hold her own against me. I wasn’t used to anyone telling me what to do or trying to put me in my place. She had done both, beautifully, in the span of less than a half hour.
She was intriguing and nothing like her brother. He was quiet, almost submissive, with me. He never talked back, he never questioned me, he certainly would never tell me what I should do and why. It was one of the reasons I hired him. I needed a yes man, someone who would do exactly what I said, the way I said it, and without question.
Darian and I had found a shorthand with each other. He could anticipate my needs, sometimes even before I had them. It was what made him so invaluable to me and such a contrast to the woman standing in front of me.
There were some familial characteristics between them. They both had short, pointed noses and deep blue eyes. Where Darian had sandy blonde hair, Kiara’s was more of a golden blonde. It cascaded down her back in small ringlets making me long to run my fingers through it. Darian was tall and skinny with a runner’s physique, Kiara had curves in all the right places.
She was certainly different from any woman I’d ever met. She didn’t blanch when I asked her to leave or all but accused her of breaking into my place. She stood her ground and looked like an Athenian goddess when she did.
I had never been so interested in a woman so quickly or intensely as I was with Kiara. Even when she was annoying me, even when she was trying to tell me that everything was my fault, all I could think about was pulling her toward me and then pushing her up against the nearest wall.
Her head tilted up slightly at my statement. I could tell she didn’t believe me, as her eyes almost rolled into the back of her head. It was a line I had used before, more times than I could ever count. I still meant every word of it when it came to Kiara.
“If I had a dollar,” she said.
“For what? Every time I told a woman she was the most interesting and sexiest woman I’d ever met? You still wouldn’t be as rich as me, but pretty close.” I moved closer to her.
I liked invading her space. I liked seeing her eyes get big for a half a second before they changed to something else. Sometimes it was annoyance or anger, but mostly it was desire. Desire was the only one I wanted to see.
“Thank you for the compliment. Too bad I can’t return the favor.” She walked away from me and took a drink of her wine, well, my wine. I watched as her hand shook ever so slightly. It told me she wasn’t as unaffected by me as she wanted me to believe.
