When the ground splits and civilization falls, one woman refuses to go down with it.
The Changing Earth Series follows Erika Moore from the moment a catastrophic mega-quake buries Sacramento in toxic floodwaters, through nine brutal books of survival, resistance, and hard-won hope. What begins as a desperate mother’s race to find her family becomes something much larger: a woman forging herself into a leader in a world that no longer has rules.
Erika is not a superhero. She is a country girl with grit, a martial arts background, and a stubborn refusal to abandon the people she loves. Across the Sierra Nevada wilderness, federal refugee camps, the ruins of Las Vegas and Denver, and a crumbling South battered by storms and mercenaries, she fights systems designed to break her. A tyrannical government. Forced compliance. Betrayal from people she trusted. A captor who tries to rewrite her mind. She survives all of it, and she does not survive it cleanly.
That is what makes this series worth reading.Fans of The Road, The Hunger Games, Station Eleven, and The Handmaid’s Tale will recognize the terrain: a world that feels uncomfortably possible, where the real danger is not just survival but losing yourself in the process. Hathaway does not flinch from the cost. She also does not let her protagonist stop moving.
Eight books. One relentless woman. A saga that asks what you would sacrifice to keep your family alive, and how much of yourself you could lose before you stopped recognizing who you were fighting for.
Sara is an author, a fighter, a mother, and a wife. Her writings’ central philosophy is that anyone can be confident in any survival situation with the right skills and mental attitude. She wants people to learn through a fictional experience just how fragile our manufactured society is.
She practices these philosophies by training in various martial arts disciplines and homesteading with her family. Sara graduated from the California State University of Sacramento with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and published her first novel in 2014. She hosts self-defense seminars and avoiding abductions and sexual assaults.
Sara currently lives in the piney forest of east Texas. As a happily married woman with two boys, she delights in quality family time hiking and camping. Besides writing and fighting, she raises chickens, tends to her garden, and works as an insurance agent during the week.
