Well, Dear Readers, you may have noticed it got awfully quiet around here after August 31. If you wondered where the book tours went, you were not the only one. Some days I wondered too!

So here is the short version. Life got busy, and I mean BUSY.

I am still at the University of Florida working on my Master’s in Social Media, and I am happy to report I am holding on to my 4.0. The PhD is in the works for the coming year. That is all I am going to say about it for now, because I am still chewing on it myself.

My Solo Sojourn research study on solo women travelers is up and running. Plus I started two new podcasts. Voices from the Road had author Casey Dawes as its very first guest, and the Solo Sojourn Trail Podcast is for the women who want to get out on our public lands on their own.

On the fiction side, my pen name L.J. Green launched the Chrono Mystery Guild newsletter, with bonus stories for the folks who sign up. I also finally published my Anna Pigeon review and booklist.

For my author friends, Southern Dragon Publishing added five new workbooks to the Payhip shop, and the Author Marketing Planner plugin got its very own how-to video. And back in August I served as a poll supervisor for Florida’s primary election.

Then in October, Amazon threw me a curveball I did not see coming. Both of my KDP accounts were shut down and my books disappeared. They are back now, but that story deserves its own post, so watch for it later this week. If you publish on Amazon, you are going to want to read it.

Something New on the Site

Now here is the part I am excited about. You are used to seeing Google ads around Webs and Blogs for Writers. Those are being replaced with something a lot more useful to you.

The new ads come from my own homegrown house ads plugin, and they only promote things from our own family of sites: books, courses, author tools, and my travel projects. Every ad carries a little label that says “From our family of sites,” so you always know what you are looking at. They rotate as you click around, so you will not see the same one over and over. And the plugin counts its views and clicks right here on my own site, not on somebody else’s ad network.

Authors, this one is for you too. If you run more than one website, like an author site, a series site, and a newsletter page, I am getting this plugin ready for other authors to use. Want to hear first when it is ready? Join our newsletter HERE.

The Book Tours Are Back

Starting tomorrow, the Silver Dagger Book Tours features are back, and you can expect something new here almost every day. Fantasy, romance, historical mystery, we have a good mix coming up this week, and most of them come with a giveaway.

We did skip one. We had a sweet small-town romance lined up for today, but when I went to link it up, the ebook was not available on Amazon and the only paperback listed was out of print. I will not send you to a dead end, so we passed on that one. More on why books go missing from Amazon in my KDP post this week.

Thank you for sticking with me. It is good to be back.

Till next time…

Jolene

I use AI to help me write. It helps me separate out what I am actually trying to say. The story is mine, the facts are mine, and every word gets read and approved by me before it goes out.
